For this reason, to limit the time spent on preparing, I would suggest using a pressure cooker. The cooker helps in par-cooking the meat partially. So that saves you time in cooking.

Meanwhile, as the beef is getting cooked, begin to slice the ingredients. You can add the ingredients once the meat is ready. The ingredients to use are curry leaves, onions, ginger, garlic, chills, coconut slivers (thenga kothu), and coconut oil. Furthermore, beef ularthiyathu with coconut gives the meal a distinctive taste, and your guest will attest to it.

Beef ulalarthiyathu with coconut flakes

If you can’t find a fresh coconut, you can opt for dehydrated coconut pieces. These are readily available at your grocery store. That ensures, your Kerala style beef fry will still be tasty and delicious.

Now that we have all the ingredients in allow the beef to roast at a mild temperature. The low temperature allows the meat to seamer and cooks evenly. However, the meat should be allowed to cook until it turns dark. Hence, it will melt in your mouth. Thus, I recommend cooking the beef until it turns to be darker to obtain the desired taste.

The darker it becomes, the tastier it is. Thus, to achieve a darker crust on the meat, I would advise using an iron cast pan or earthen pan. After all, is said and done, the level of spices used is upon you to decide. Some choose to add different spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves or black pepper.

The dish can best serve with parathas, appam, plain rice, among others.
